The stone-throwing at the border is reminiscent of the ritual at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, where tourists are urged to toss coins to make sure fate will kindly return them to the Italian capital one day. Palestinian refugees throw stones at occupied Palestine hoping they will, inch'Allah, be allowed back to the green pastures just beyond the concrete wall.
But the mood is not always so cute. Some people come armed with Molotov cocktails or throw stones like ammunition, injuring Israeli soldiers and Thai laborers in the orchards nearby.
