Muslim kids from the town of Khiam enjoy a truck ride after a swim in a creek near the now-peaceful Israeli border.

Since the Israeli troop withdrawal, Khiam has made an impressive come-back. Former residents, the little people who fled the Israeli invasion and crowded Beirut's southern slums, are now flooding back. From 3,000 in May, the mostly Shiite population of Khiam has swollen to 8,000 and is expected to double in the next few months.  Ten new grocery stores have opened on Khiam's main boulevard.
